In February 2017, I will be venturing to Nepal for a three week trek to Everest Base Camp!
As a part of this journey, I will be fundraising for Amnesty International in support of their crucial work in protecting human rights and safeguarding the world's most vulnerable populations.
For the past two years, I’ve began my career by providing critical services to recently arrived refugees in the U.S., which include survivors of human trafficking, torture, and trauma. Everyday I see how the suffering of unimaginable loss translates into a testament of personal courage and resilience. This recovery isn’t possible without causes like this lead by organizations committed to defending human dignity. It goes without saying that the stakes for human rights now are higher than ever before. Some of the worst humanitarian crises in history are unfolding before us while some of the least humane responses are being endorsed in public debate, leaving little distinction between politics and persecution. The gravity of this reality often leads to apathy, but even a small donation or distributing this page to a small network can effect a big change. Organizations like Amnesty International survive on fundraising of any scale to provide basic resources at a time when they are becoming increasingly scarce. Most importantly, contributions of any kind collectively generate the political will to promote social justice on the caliber that is needed. In fall of 2017, I hope to attend Columbia University to complete a Master's degree in human rights so I consider this goal to be integral to my own professional development as well.
The important part of this challenge is to raise $4,100 for Amnesty International's work defending human rights. Please help me to raise these vital funds.
$50 can help Amnesty investigate the cases of prisoners jailed soley because of their beliefs and protect those at imminent risk of torture, ill-treatment or execution
$100 can help Amnesty collect testimonies from survivors and families affected by human rights violations
$500 can help fund research missions to areas of conflict and crisis and help launch vital campaigns
